Boney Kapoor and Bhutani Infra's ambitious Noida International Film City project is now moving closer to becoming a reality. Construction on the first phase is expected to begin in the coming months, following financial closure and the completion of necessary regulatory approvals.
The project is located in Sector 21, close to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. This location is seen as a major advantage, as proximity to the airport is expected to boost both accessibility and investor interest in the project.
First Phase Details: Scope, Cost and Core Infrastructure
The development is being carried out by Bayview Projects LLP, a joint venture between filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Infra group. The first phase of the project will span around 240 acres and involve an investment of approximately Rs 1,500 crore.
This initial phase will focus on building the core film infrastructure needed to run a functional production hub. This includes sound stages, production studios, post-production facilities, a film institute, and permanent outdoor sets. Importantly, authorities have set a condition that all this core film infrastructure must be completed first, before any larger commercial development is allowed to begin.
According to officials at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), groundwork on the project is expected to pick up pace soon, with construction work likely starting within the next few months now that financial and regulatory hurdles are being cleared.
Beyond Filmmaking: A Wider Economic Push
Beyond filmmaking, the project is expected to generate a much wider economic impact. Once the film city is functional, it is expected to attract greater investment in related sectors like hospitality, retail, tourism, and entertainment. Industry observers believe this project could follow a pattern seen in major global media hubs, where a film production centre acts as an anchor, drawing in hotels, retail spaces, leisure attractions, and tourism-related businesses that grow around it.
Speaking about the broader goal behind the project, Ashish Bhutani, CEO of Bhutani Infra, highlighted that the real opportunity lies in building a complete, integrated ecosystem around the film city, not just limiting the project to studio and production infrastructure alone.

A Key Addition to the Yamuna Expressway Growth Corridor
The film city is also seen as fitting into the larger growth story of the Yamuna Expressway corridor, which has been attracting steady investment in industrial parks, logistics hubs, and real estate. With the film city joining this list of major projects, the region is expected to see increased job creation and a stronger local economy, supported by improving infrastructure and connectivity in the area.
Overall, as financial and regulatory pieces fall into place, the Noida International Film City is positioned not just as a hub for filmmaking, but as a long-term driver of broader infrastructure-led economic growth in the region surrounding Jewar Airport.
